With the help of people like you we are able to have a sustainable, kennel-free breeding program. All of our dogs live in homes, such as yours and mine, as pets. This way we do not have to "Retire" any of our dogs in the conventional sense. When they retire they just stop breeding but never leave the home they are accustom to and love. They get to live with their family, for all their life, as pets and we are grateful we can breed happy, healthy, well loved dogs! We believe their mental state is as important as their physical one.
Some of you may know I am a die hard German Shepherd lover and I had bred GSD's before Cavaliers.
THIS PROGRAM WAS INTRODUCED AND SHARED WITH ME FROM A GERMAN SHEPHERD BREEDER IN MAINE OVER 35 YEARS AGO.
A PROGRAM HE STARTED IN WEST GERMANY (more than 50 years ago)
HE CALLED IT...
"A BETTER WAY OF BREEDING"
Here is how it works:
ITS EASY ... HAPPY DOGS = HAPPY PUPPIES = HAPPY PEOPLE!
Our hand picked girls are on a litter contract. We get a specified number of litters and you get a FREE cavalier. They live with you for their whole lives. They only come back to us to be bred and have their babies. We birth every puppy, and this is done in my home by me. I also raise and imprint every pup. We keep Mom for 5-6 weeks until she no longer is interested in feeding pups.
This commitment usually equals out to about 1-2 months a year. We usually only breed each female once a year to give her some recovery time. Its kind of like going to a fertility clinic and then having a hospital stay.
The boys are on contract till they reach a certain age. The time commitment with the boys is usually a day or two several times, randomly throughout the year, so while they are on contract longer the time commitment really equals out. This end of the deal is far less taxing so the contract is longer.
Once the contract is fulfilled the dog is 100% yours to keep forever.
However we love updates and an occasional visits, if possible to catch up.
WE ARE STARTING A SUNDAY COFFEE WITH ALL KFB HOME MEMBERS.
(ok, so we also do a Saturday cheese and wine thing sometimes)
Most people who are in our breeding program decide to have 2 or 3 of our dogs. Kind of like chips, it’s hard to have just one.
